Inspiration
If dragonflies are warriors of the sky, then damselflies are poets of the water's edge.
They are exquisitely sensitive to purity—their presence alone is a quiet confirmation that a place is still clean, still whole, still alive.
We chose Maki-e to capture the shifting iridescence of their wings—not to merely replicate, but to honor the quiet stillness that holds a thousand shifts of light.
This piece is for those who, in a world that never stops moving, still carry a light that is unmistakably theirs—not fragile, but rare.
Craft

Gold-sprinkling Lacquer — a thousand-year-old technique originating in Tang dynasty China, where it was known as "mojinlou" (末金镂) — is the art of painting with lacquer and dusting with fine metal powders (including gold, silver, and copper): patterns emerge not from the brush alone, but from time, patience, and the quiet work of the hand.

Jewel Beetle Wing Powder
A prized material in traditional Chinese lacquer art, known for its shifting, iridescent quality. As light moves across its surface, it transforms—green to blue to purple—like light caught in a living wing.
Often used in gold-sprinkling lacquer techniques (known in East Asia as Maki-e), this powder allows artists to capture the shimmer of nature: the quiet aliveness of insect wings, the fleeting play of light on water, the subtle breath of life itself.

24K Gold Leaf
We use 24K gold leaf applied with our signature lacquer technique. The lacquer binds it firmly and permanently—once applied, the gold will never fade. It becomes part of the piece, unchanged by time.
